FRAUD ALERT!!
It has come to the attention of Wheeler Machinery Co. that
fraudulent duplicates of our checks have been distributed through the mail, to
numerous addressees. Enclosed with these
checks is a letter indicating that the addressee has won a sweepstakes, and the
enclosed check is for the “advance” that they’ve supposedly won. These letters and checks are fraudulent and part
of a criminal scam. Wheeler Machinery
Co. has no such sweepstakes. Wheeler
Machinery Co. has no connection with such letters, entities, sweepstakes, or
any persons identifying themselves to represent such. Any check included in such mailing is a
forgery and fraudulent and will not be honored.
Recipients
of this letter and the forged check can mail the items to Wheeler
Machinery Co. at the
correct address of 4901 West 2100 south Salt Lake City, Utah 84120 to the attention of Mandy Sexton, to be turned
over to the authorities. Alternatively,
the recipient can turn the items over to their postmaster reporting that they
have been targeted for a sweepstake scam.
What to watch for:

A letter from WHEELER FINANCIAL stating they are a division of Wheeler

Phone numbers from a different area code than ours

·
Anything indicating that you have won from a ballot
system, Readers Digest, Publishers Clearing House, Online Sweepstakes, Internet
Games, etc.
·
A check enclosed to cover administrative payment and
clearance fees
·
Instructions to wire money after you’ve deposited the
check
·
You are pressured to make a payment within a give
time deadline to collect your prize
·
They
ask for a credit card number, checking account number, bank account
information or other personal information
How to Protect Yourself:
·
Rule # 1: If
it looks too good to be true it probably is
·
Use your
common sense; the offer may be a scam
·
ALWAYS
speak with your bank if the offer involves money
·
Never send
money to anyone you do not know or trust
·
FINALLY,
NEVER SEND MONEY TO PAY FOR WINNINGS
